Your first trip to a driving range is simpler than it looks. At US 1 Golf there is nothing to book and no membership to buy. You pull in, pay at the counter for a bucket of balls, pick an open spot in the covered bays, and hit at your own pace. Here is everything you need to know before you come.
How a visit works at US 1 Golf
We are at 3847 N US Hwy 1 in Fort Pierce, open every day from 9 am to 6 pm. There are no tee times, so you can show up whenever it fits your day.
Park and come to the counter. Turn in off US Highway 1 and head inside.
Pick your bucket. Small, medium, large or super. You pay right at the counter.
Find an open spot and swing. Your bucket is good for as long as it takes you to hit it. Nobody is timing you.
The last bucket is sold at 6 pm, so plan to arrive with enough daylight to enjoy it.
Which bucket should you get?
There are four sizes. All prices are paid at the counter, and we don't sell buckets online.
Small, $8. A quick warm up, or a first taste if you have never swung a club.
Medium, $13. A good first visit. Enough to try a few clubs without rushing.
Large, $16. A real practice session for golfers working on something specific.
Super (XL), $25. Bring a friend, or make an afternoon of it.
If it's your first time, a medium is usually the right call. Even better, join our email list and your next medium bucket is free.
What to bring
Your clubs. A few irons, a wedge and a driver is plenty. You don't need a full bag to practice. If you don't own clubs yet, call us before you come at (772) 409-4320.
Comfortable clothes and shoes. Wear something you can swing in without thinking about it. Athletic shoes work well.
A water bottle, sunscreen and a hat. The hitting bays are covered, but this is Florida, and the walk to and from the car counts.
A glove, if you have one. It helps your grip and saves your hands, but it isn't required.
A simple plan for your first bucket
The biggest mistake new golfers make is grabbing the driver and swinging as hard as they can until the bucket is gone. You will have more fun, and improve faster, with a little structure.
Warm up with your shortest club. Start with a wedge or a short iron and make small, easy swings. Focus on clean contact, not distance.
Pick a target every time. Our range has flags and target greens at different distances. Choose one before each shot instead of hitting at open space. Aiming at something is how practice turns into progress.
Move up one club at a time. Once short swings feel solid, work up through a middle iron. Keep the same smooth tempo as the club gets longer.
Save the driver for the end. Hit a handful, then finish the bucket with the club you hit best. Ending on good shots is the best way to want to come back.
Take a break. Sit at the shaded picnic tables under the palms between sets. A short rest keeps your swing from getting sloppy as you tire.
Range manners in 30 seconds
Driving ranges are relaxed places, and ours is no exception. A few habits keep everyone comfortable and safe:
Hit only from your own spot, and never walk out onto the range to get a ball.
Give the golfer next to you some room, and check behind you before you swing.
Keep an eye on kids and friends who are watching so they stay well back from swinging clubs.
Nobody is judging your swing. Everyone on the line was a beginner once.
Bring the people who don't golf
Not everyone in your group wants to hit a bucket, and that is fine. Our mini golf course sits on the same lot, right next to the range. It's $6 for adults and $4 for kids, with no reservation needed. One person can work on their swing while the rest of the group plays a round.
Questions
Do I need a tee time or reservation?
No. Come any time between 9 am and 6 pm, pick a bucket at the counter, and find an open spot.
Is it okay if I'm a total beginner?
Absolutely. The range is relaxed and nobody is rushing you. Beginners and regulars are both welcome.
Is there shade?
Yes. The hitting bays are covered, and there are shaded picnic tables between the bays and the range.
Can I get my clubs regripped?
Yes. We stock grips from $17 to $33. Ask at the counter about regripping your clubs.
